About Richmond City Criminal History

Richmond City criminal records are divided among the Police Department, City Sheriff, local courts, Virginia State Police, and state corrections and registry systems. Richmond is an independent city, not Richmond County. This privately run resource helps readers identify the office, official portal, address, or telephone line that matches the record they need.

Why We Built This Site

Virginia does not place every record in one public database. Richmond Police keeps incident and arrest narratives. The Richmond City Sheriff maintains booking and custody information at the Justice Center, while court clerks hold charges, docket events, and dispositions. Virginia State Police operates the CCRE repository and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia Department of Corrections handles state custody and supervision data. We organize the verified request steps, official contacts, fees, and search routes for those separate custodians.

What You Will Find Here

  • Court record help: how to locate and interpret Richmond criminal court case records
  • Agency contacts: where to reach Richmond Police, Sheriff Records, the court clerks, and statewide custodians
  • Official check steps: how the Virginia State Police SP-167 name-check process and fingerprint channels differ
  • Record restrictions: how Virginia expungement, sealing, and access limits affect public results

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a Virginia court, the City of Richmond, a police or sheriff's office, or any state agency. Its role has firm limits:

  • We do not retrieve criminal histories or perform official checks
  • We cannot issue certified court papers, repository reports, or other government records
  • We do not submit VFOIA requests, expungement petitions, or forms for visitors
  • We cannot give legal advice about a charge, warrant, case, or filing
  • We cannot promise that a government office has not changed a fee, hour, phone number, or procedure

An official copy must come from its custodian, such as Richmond Police, the Sheriff, a court clerk, or Virginia State Police. We identify those channels but do not produce the records.

Search Partners

Outside providers power search boxes shown on some pages. They control their services, results, prices, and terms. We may receive a referral fee if a visitor follows one of those tools to a paid service. That support helps fund the resource, but it does not give us control over a partner's data or charges.
